Updated the firmware on my RNS 510. Took about 45mins.

Starting at Firmware version 3970:


System is turned on with no keys in the ignition and update DVD inserted:


Press ok and update starts. System reboots a couple of times in the process:



Once update all finished, the system restarts and then reset the system by pressing <,> and the star button simultaneously. Now running version 4020:


Still got the update to 5269 and the V10 maps to install but need some dual layer DVDs for those maps first.

Ordered 2 new tyres (inc fitting) for the front - £332 ouch!  And booked into VW for service.

I put the 5269 update on and had real problems with the GPS continually losing lock so went back to 4120 and have had no problems since.

It is a lot of money Ross, but I think she shares my OCDness in that if I only need 2 tyres, I have to have a pair to match the tyres that are still on the car.

Yeah they're 19s. 

Perish the thought of having mismatched tyres    Conti SC5p all round for me - brilliant tyres.  My second choice would be Eagle F1s though.  I'm just glad I don't have to replace all four at once.
