Thanks for that heads-up. We did something  similar when he was a learner. Quite a lot cheaper. Will give it a go.

Going to let his mum take the pain of insurance on her leon

Have a look at Marmalade Insurance.

The new driver has there own policy that allows them to drive a family members car. They build there own no claims that way. We've just done it for our daughter. Bought a 2012 Polo, insured it for us for £170, then she bought her bolt on policy for £750.

Well mum did not want him on her policy.. He has a reasonable job so he has a 1.2 hyundai i20 with satnav and parking sensors dusk and rain sensor on his own policy with mum as named driver for £650  Excess is a bit high but not unreasonable and hopefully not required.

After what seemed like an eternity for my new winter wheels to arrive from Germany. The wheels finally turned up.  The intention is to fit them as winter wheels to the Mk8 CS when ("if" ) it materialises next year. As my current 17" wheels won't clear the Clubsport's brakes.

Though I'm really glad I didn't get them fitted straight away due to that weird November weekend that saw 17 deg. C temps.  Why? well I had a brain fart driving home during the week, and managed to low speed 'bounce' off the kerb on a section of road I've driven a million times.

The usual sequence of hearing the sound, knowing what I'd just done, then immediately being cross with myself  for being so careless.  Culimating in not relishing the inspection of my own handiwork when I got on my driveway.

Nearside front took the hit, granted I was going to get these Monza Shadows refurbished when my Mk8 turns up.  But wasn't wishing to do it right now, such is life.  Anyway silver lining was that I didn't kerb the new BBS wheels - then I would have been sick!

So my Monza Shadows have been stripped of tyres and are awaiting refurbing at the Wheel Specialist.  Having the same Gunmental colour on them.

Anyway here she is with her 18" BBS SR wheels on and Continental WinterContact 870P winter tyres.  Was weird going from 17" BBS SRs to 18" BBS SRs, as it looks the same but still different if that makes sense. Excuse the autumn dirt, she's a bit of a grubby girl today.

Had my car 6 months now after buying a fresh import. Not done much bar a few interior tweaks and a splash of aurum gold on the wheels!

Think I saw those on EBay. Involved part exchanging my wheels but I couldn’t be bothered when I could get mine refurbished and painted for the same price in three hours at home. Currently looking at exhaust tips and can’t decide between 3.5” or 4” outlets. Has anybody else fitted them? My main fear is getting madly oversized ones that make the car look like a wheelie bin fitted with Saturn 5 rockets.

@Hideki, I do like the look of the gold with the white car.  Not a combo I'd thought about.

Picked my Monza Shadows up from the wheel refurbishers today.  My kerb bouncing handiwork has now been erased in under a week.  Stuck with TWS Gunmetal Grey, happy with the result.  Just need to try and avoid kerbs now.

Had to top up the coolant level as well below the min level but coolant temp still normal. First time ever gone below half way to min. Will have to sot out the leak origins by driving around as no coolant on the garage floor. Main offenders usually pump or thermostat but could be the rad? None cheap!

It's normally the pump but as you say best to check.
