Thanks for the advise all.

I have just had a quick look and its actually 2 separate slits not flap and it does not look deep but getting dark now so will have a look tomorrow and see if I can get some tyre glue to repair as I have only done 1700 miles in the car so tyres still new.

Davo245, I am with Exonian and interested to to know why you prefer PS5's? I ran PS4S's on my Golf R for 5 years and thought they were an improvement on the Continental Sport Contact 6 that came with the car. The PS4S was going to be the tyre I would gone for to replace the Hankooks when time comes.

Oops.
That said, if you didn’t notice it when you cleaned the car James it’s probably not super obvious to see.
Is it just a slit or a flap that can be pulled?
If it’s a slit then open it up gently to see how deep it is. If it’s not through to the inner then it’s legal to use, and if it’s a flap it should be easy to see how far through the rubber it’s gone. Personally I’d tidy it up with some puncture repair glue and keep a close eye on it for further deterioration. Not wishing to teach anyone to suck eggs here if I’m stating the obvious.
Might be wise to put it on the back to reduce weight/stress loading a little if the tread depths between front and rear aren’t huge, or just swap both pairs front to back and vice versa.
If they’re quite worn already then maybe just keep them in the front and wear them down over winter. Chances are, as autumn and winter set in, potholes will proliferate and there’ll be the odd further unavoidable impact - better to do that with an older tyre than risk knackering a new one.

Hankooks on mine from the factory too, and they seem ok but like Watts and davo I’ll likely be looking elsewhere at replacement time.

davo245, interesting to see you prefer the PS5’s - what areas do they stand out in that brings you to that conclusion (other than the velvet sidewall 😁) ? Genuinely interested being as Michelin do quite a range of performance tyres so each version must have its own USP.
I ran PS4S on multiple former cars for quite a lot of miles so always interested in something that’s better for daily use.
In my eyes a car used in the UK and Ireland needs bloody good wet weather performance above all else.

£100 off 4 PS5’s at moment direct from Michelin (in addition to what you can’t get of the supplier) I bought a set yesterday. Great tyres IMO, hard wearing, grippy and low noise.

Oh, one other point, the damage doesn't look all that bad, I'd have it checked first before condemning.

Agree - can’t see any cords - I had something similar last year, passed MOT last December and still ok.

No, the actual pedal response didn’t seem as good. My thinking is different ECU parameters, there was a different operating system brought in toward the end of the 7.5’s life from memory I think(?)
The DSG seemed unaffected, but I find the mk8 DSG more responsive anyway.

There is certainly leather as an option on the German configurator. Not something I’ll be speccing as I avoid as much leather contact as possible, I was particularly pleased to see the alcantara steering wheel option as that will be great for me too! Also you’ll lose the lovely Clark colour way too. I can’t see VW not offering leather in UK if it’s there for German market.

On specs I assume there will be an option for leather seats and also for the exterior I'm not fan of all black wheels so would like a good silver or silver/black choice. My 7.5 GTi PP is specced with leather, Dynaudio sound and 19" Brescias. I've specced a 8.5 Clubsport with all my options on VW configurator and that has a list price of £52k.

I had no issues with my PedalBox as regards to warning lights or stored codes. It worked seamlessly.
Mine was run on manual cars (I also ran a Sprint Booster on my mk6’s) aside from my 2019 TCR but it didn’t work as well on that car. Mind you my PedalBox was from 2013 and from memory the ECU/control modules security settings were different on 2019 cars which would explain why.

If you’re thinking about getting one I’d say don’t hesitate as they’re brilliant!

Thanks, what was the issue on the TCR working with the DSG?

Washed my car at the weekend but noticed this on Tuesday

No damage to the alloy, but last week I did fair miles on holiday and visited a few places that had off road parking so must have run over a rock or did remember hitting pot hole on a roundabout I could not avoid.

Looks like it will need replacing and a bit annoyed it has gone so easily which is making think the tyres don’t have a strong sidewall.

Just after people’s reviews on these tyres to see if it’s worth replacing the 1, or going for Michelin PS4S which I ran on my R or the PS5.

I had hankooks on mine when i bought it and they were pretty good tbf and better than I expected.

I swopped them front to back yo wear out even then over to PS5's all round and they are way better imo in all conditions.

Rand PS4S'S on my 7.5 Gti performance and would but PS5'S over them also.

For ref I have done lot of miles on all the different tyre types in all conditions and road types over the years not just  a few miles a week on local roads.
