Wheel not stable!
« on: 17 May 2011, 20:47 »
Gentlemen help please!  I was just rotating my wheels front to back and just finishing off the NSF, when I noticed that upon tightening the bolt the wheel would move forward against the hub.  I don't know if this is because of a knackered bush but it doesn't happen on the other side.  It looks as though somethings not solid and secure behind the hub.  Thanks guys for any suggestions.

Not sure exactly what you mean....
When you tighten the wheel bolts up the wheel is still loose or is it being pulled around on the hub (spigot).
Is the recess on the back of the wheel damaged or wrong size for the hub?  Knackered wheel bearing?

If you put one hand on the top of the wheel and one on the bottom of the wheel and there is a lot of movement then it could be the wheel bearing

I've tried tried rocking it with hand at top and bottom, but there is no movement.  The bolt were so tight I did have to half stand on the wrench to loosen a couple of them.  Do you think that may have damaged something.

Possibly mate but I think the best bet is just to let a garage look at it cos if it's that bad it could be quite dangerous
