Title: Macpherson struts

The struts on my mkIV golf which I bought  3 yrs ago are riding up by about an inch. I have had the rubber mounting replaced but that didn't help. Jack the car up allowing the wheel to fall, and the strut falls back into place. What is going on? Should I worry?

Are you running stock springs or coil overs?
