Getting fed up with my Meguiars liquid wax, doesn't last as long as it should, I've heard Collinite is the way too go, a few questions for you detailers :)

2. How long roughly does it last?
3. How much to apply?
4. Is is easy to apply and/or buff off?

915 FTW
lasts an absolute life time - i waxed my car around September last year and only now its gone!
you only need a very small amount and apply in thin layers - allow to haze and then buff off
2 coats of it should see you through at least 3 months as long as you wash fairly regularly

I have some 476 which gets 2 coats 1 day and 2 coats the next and lasts for ages (and i dont even wash my car properly :lipsrsealed:)
I might give some 915 a go?? (black is a bad bad colour for shine!!)

Will do, I shouldn't be buying anything now but f**k it, it's only £25, how long you reckon the tub will last? Is it alot?

well i've had mine over 12 months and used it about 3 times and its barely scratched the surface!! Should last you years :afro:

funnily enough i've booked the weekend for exactly the same thing providing the weather is dry - hope to get rid of ALL the winter grime :smiley:

I'll give mine a good spanking on Friday I reckon, so long as the weather is good, can I ask, when you say two layers of the wax, are you supposed to leave it a certain amount of time before buffing off and reapplying?

yes you need to leave at least an hour for it to cure and haze (in my experience anyway)

I use colonite 476 i usualy start by claying the car 1st then either mequiars or autoglym then give it a coat of this and it lasts for ages and you can tell then how clean your paint is with the water beading

Deffo go for the 915 i just put some on my mk2 today its an amazing wax that lasts for yonks!
il prob be well into me 20's by the time ive finished the tub lol

I've used 476s and it's a bit of a b*tch to apply. If I'd known, I'd have gone for the liquid version.

845 insulator liquid wax is very handy if you want a quick wax to apply and remove and it protects up to a year.

My first time with 476 was a nightmare. I applied it to the whole car before buffing off, and was left with a rock hard solvent-style wax to buff off. Hardcore.
Do one panel at a time. Allow to cure for a few minutes, then buff off.
476 is amazing, don't get hyped into buying 915 unless you want it. The beading on 476 reminds me of the T1000 from Terminator 2, its like mercury moving around your when you drive off. :cool:
As for 915, its just got more carnuba in it. I read that it gives slightly better shine than 476, but most people won't able to tell the difference on a well prepped vehicle. I will be sticking with 476 myself - its cheaper but 99% as good (IMO).
As for 815, I use optimum spray on wax in-between 476 sessions instead, and its awesome. Very high shine.

thank god i had a lazy day today and didnt polish the motor :laugh: i usually do it all in a oner

This is the issue I had. I also found it difficult to get enough product onto the cloth and ended up having to scrape the wax out, which I didn't like. Because I find it difficult to apply effectively, I think I'd rather use something liquid-based. Still love the beading though.

did you use a damp cloth to apply it?? i found that makes it easier to scrape out of the tin lol
i think its also part of the directions on the back :undecided:
