Car vacuum cleaner
« on: 21 October 2021, 11:40 »
My OH has decreed that no more is the house vacuum cleaner to go outside to clean the car. This is a right pita as we have a very small home with limited storage options and the existing cleaner doesn't really have a proper home let alone a second one

So, has anyone got any recommendations? I don't want to have to sell a kidney but I will consider paying for quality. Cordless could be useful but not essential.

Thanks

Ah sorry I skim read your post. The Titan vac from screwfix are apparently a good job, but I like Nilfisk they're pretty indestructible, unless you drive over the handle

A little expensive Watts but you mentioned quality and so i can highly recommend the Metro Compact Vac and Blo. Its a fantastic piece of kit and comes with various attachments and you also have the benefit of the blower which i use for not only the car, but as a leaf blower.

Cheers watchdog. I've bought one now though, a cordless handheld Gtech. Haven't tried it yet but seems pretty good. My OH wanted one that she could also use around the house so I was advised as to which one I wanted.....

Just tried out the Gtech cleaner in the car for the first time and this really is not suitable for cars. It's too bulky so it's difficult to get it into nooks and crannies, it doesn't have suitable attachments and it doesn't pick bits up as well as it should. Like me, it makes an annoying whiney noise all the time and if you have any level of tightness in your back, you are really going to feel it.

I bought it because my OH was insistent that the household vacuum cleaner was not for use outside so what did she say when I came in complaining about the Gtech? Why not use the household one then FFS. Total waste of £179.

If you bought it online return it, it wasn't fit for purpose for your intended use. Better to get your money back than to be unhappy with it and think about kicking all day

Personally I think all those cordless ones are gimmicky and lack the power of a proper plug in upright / wet/vac hoover, even little henry does a good job.

I would return it other than someone is really pleased with it for the stairs. I suspect what will happen is she won't be bothered to charge it up once it goes flat and in a cupboard it'll remain never to see the light of day again along with the Karcher window cleaner and the mini handheld steamer
