Phantom amber oil warning light?
« on: 10 October 2022, 22:20 »
I've had this pop up a couple of times where the oil level is fine on the dip stick. On the last two occasions all I've done is pop the bonnet, unscrew the oil cap and then done it back up. The warning light then disappears.

Does this point to a faulty sensor?

The research I've done points to air locks causing this issue but is there a known fix for this?

If I recall the sensor is not a real time sensor as such, it kindov follows an average level and reports when the level is on average low.  It assumes that when the light is on and you open the bonnet you have topped up and resets itself - it will take a while for it to realise that actually the level has not changed.

So yes - could be a dodgy sensor if we're talking about the oil level light.
