Re torque ALL the wheel bolts. If it continues the caliper sliders may not have been tightened properly.

Golf mk7 / Re: GTI or R?

Yes, sorry, if I got an R it would almost definitely be an estate. Probably not a T-Roc R as they are still a bit pricey, interior/equipment spec is a bit poor and I don’t think I could bring myself to own an SUV!

Hi

Yes you are absolutely right Fred. its not going to be a sub-40K car at RRP.

Before the Mk8 disappeared, I wrote down the prices UK v Germany. Obviously, as already discussed the two spec are poles apart and UK getting a far more loaded car.

So just for interest here are the mk8 prices for performance golfs before they went off sale (Basic list price, not really worth a comparison but interesting)( but its interesting to see the difference basic currency conversions)

GTI
£39,815  v  40,095Euros
GTI Clubsport
£42,270  v  46,480Euros
R
£44,550  v 54,880Euros

So from my thinking basic UK GTI before options will be £42-44K if the German version is 44,550Euros

Ahh, well in that case why not replace one with a Golf R estate or if ground clearance is an issue then maybe a T-Roc R?

Surely the replaced wheel has its own warranty?

Under VW’s new car factory warranty, items replaced during the warranty period are only warrantable up to the expiry date of the warranty. From the warranty T&C’s on VW’s website;

’Any part which is replaced becomes the property of Volkswagen. Any replaced parts are covered for the unexpired period of the vehicle warranty.’

https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-services/my-car/important-information/warranties-and-insurance/new-car-terms.html

I'd ask citizens advice if that is actually UK legal tbh.... I don't think it is.

Consumer Rights Act 2015 I believe will effectively state that the repair was not completed....no matter what VW might say.

The German VW approach is to sell bare bones and let the buyer add what they like.

VW UK tend to make a much more fully spec'ed base item with a few optional extras.

The German one is really stripped down, probably a good 5-7k of items will be added to a UK base GTI.

Its definitely going to be north of the magic 40k RRP, making it even more expensive. No way can i see it coming along sub 40.
