Nominal is usually around 2-3mm, but they can be higher or lower. It should create a short when you remove enough friction material to expose the wire and wear that down.

I've only had my car yearly serviced at VW and from one of the invoices they mistakenly gave me before I told them I had a service plan they used;
Shell Helix Ultra Professional AV-L 0W-30 - which is 504.00/507.00
Interestingly the Shell 1 litre top-up bottle I bought looks exactly the same as the genuine VW bottles they sell.

Extended warranty is a no brainer imo.
My local VW (Marshalls) is currently £156 per hour...
Madness at that rate and mostly sh!t service!

« Last post by davo245 on 10 April 2024, 11:28 »I have had this issue on Goodyears and Dunlops recently, the goodyears were only 18 months old when they started showing signs of cracks down the middle of the main water channels (largely shielded from UV light)
I am told it is down to modern rubber compounds and a lot of high performance tyres suffer from it.
The Pzero on our GTI seem fine though and they are 4 years old.
Wonder if it could be caused by certain wheel or tyre cleaning products or tyre dressings?
Not sure, those things are not normally used on the tread areas.
Just mean the shoulder youcan see on pics where dressing has possibly been used.
Would this fail an MOT.?
