Out of interest, where was the rust?

Just above the side skirt, wouldn't be massively concerned previous owner of mine clipped it and had a cheap repair done. I've been meaning to respray it since I bought it.

Although I was applying rust remover to my old gtd at the weekend, which everyone should keep an eye out for, which isn't massively far from where I had mine repaired.

Wise words, I check my sills regularly. Discovery’s that I used to have had full plastic sill covers (aka mud collectors and rot starters).

Seems to be everything catches the dirt now to rust them, at least we don't have the same sponges as the mk5's did...well we do but they put them in plastic bags.

That's part of my big maintenance pull out the arches and dynax inside them.

That's what I've got to do at some point . A bit of a job as got to remove wheels ,take off arch guards ,clean then a couple of coats of dynax uc or  s50 then leave to to dry the reaches everything but if you going to do it you should do it right

Bloody hell guys and I think I'm doing well by giving my car a detail every couple of weeks and all of the servicing done on time!

My mk6 is 13 years old and only just checked under the wheel arch guards because of worry about the noise reduction sponge on the rear of the front wing. No rust  but treated anyway.

Retro fitted the underseat storage drawers. Such a nice addition and very handy!

How easy is it to source parts and fit? much of the MK 7.5 was improvement, this was a demerit on removing drawer, would be nice to correct,

It's definitely getting harder, the parts were discontinued at vw I believe. I got mine from German eBay.

Started into the overhaul tonight, wire brushed the rust on the subframes back to bare metal and coated them in anti-corrosion, once it dries I'll paint them black.

Also stripped my wheel hubs and in the same process.

Removed a bit of overspray on the door and wing, and have ordered Paint, PPF and wheel ceramic coats.
