Service at local VW garage, for the GTi's 4th oil change after 2600 miles since the last one & 10,880 miles from new! Seems a bit of a waste? :)

My OH's 18 year old Lupo still gets an annual service. Between the last two it covered about 250 miles

Finally got tyres fitted to the new alloys, will be giving them a final coat of Q2 rim.

Also it's wash day today so will get to see how well my coating of Soft 99 has been holding up.

A mate said to me the other day that he doesn't understand people that have nice cars and don't drive them. It's like having a fit wife and not sh*gging her. All you're doing is keeping her tight for the next bloke.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

 I like the analogy!

I don’t use my car on very short journeys (under 3 miles or thereabouts) these days on the basis it’s better for me to walk and kinder for the environment. It doesn’t stop me using my car though, and I anticipate my very low mileage of circa 4.4K miles during the last 12 months - primarily due to lockdowns - will increase to near double that figure during the next 12 months.

We all have different uses for our cars, I look after the Golf almost fanatically, running weekly Obd scans, checking fluids & tyre pressures. It mostly gets used on a monthly 60 mile round trip to visit family when I need to carry something that wont fit in sportscars.
When the sun is out I run around in a Morgan and old Pork when i need a bit of speed & noise, the Golf doesn't get used for short runs if I can possibly avoid it.
It's easy enough to understand why people don't drive "nice" cars all the time, you can only drive one car for a given journey, hence selling on an Elise (4th car) as I was just taking it out for the sake of it.

I cycled 2.5 x the mileage I covered in the Golf over the last year and like many of us, tend to have more things delivered to the house now than I ever did.

I fitted door welcome/exit lights on the front doors (SO long winded) and footwell lights that are in the front and rear. I’ve got 30 colour instrument colours coded in so it’s nice to match the footwells to the colours shown on the MIB and the digital dash.

Driving at night is amazing now

Looks great did you use OBD eleven to code the colours?

Used the anti dazzle full beam feature for the 1st time last night.
Whilst being very sceptical and wary of its performance/safe use when I bought the car,I found on the whole it worked well, with just the odd occasion when it didn’t flick back to full beam.
Passed quite a few cars and wagons going over Blubberhouses and not one flashed me,so it obviously works.

I was having a conversation with a mate last night who has just sold his 320d Estate for £3k more than he paid for it earlier this year so I put my GTI in WBAC just for an idea - MY2019 bought new in December 2018 for just under £30k - valued at £26k - that’s about 12% depreciation over nearly 3 years - second hand car market has gone mad, clearly due to a shortage of new.
It will never get sold, love it too much.

Fantastic car.
Can’t understand why anybody would sell just because the market is strong.
