It's saying 148 on the renewal but I thought even a pp gti in manual was still only 138 ish. Trying to remember where my v5 is.

Found mine and it's 148. I've even found all the workings out I did before purchase and that even says 130 quid. My car was registered in December last year so according to everything it's now 150 to tax yet if it had been registered in November it would be 130 of 140. No difference at all between mine and any other car registered after September so wtf!!!

That is odd. Still, could be worse, only just over a pound a month extra.

Looks like the £130 bracket is now £135 and the previous £145 is now £150. I could have sworn 100% that when I looked at buying the gti pp it was in the £130 bracket at that time. Maybe I didn't factor in the pp. Never mind, rant over 😁

The dealer only paid 70 odd quid for six months so unless the prices have gone up for old cars which I didn't think they had then something's wrong somewhere.

Was that a brand new car as new cars come complete with a full years VED

Yes was a brand new car and they were matching a car wow or drive the deal price so they only put six months on. I didn't pay for it so at the time wasn't that bothered.

There is a note on the form which says that the amount you pay may be different to that shown on the form, due to changes in the budget. The new rates, for cars registered between 1 March 2001 and 31 March 2017, are shown here. As said, the government hand has a firm grasp of your privates.
