Good Lord, I turn my back for a while and come back to find everyone's car has been hit!
My sympathies to Ms B, Steve, Snooze and anyone else I've missed. I share your pain, believe me.

But it's good to see Herr Watts had a successful outcome with the repair.

Just briefly back to the car park thing... you could always do what the person with the nice white cayman does who works nightshift at our place does and just park in the middle of 2 spaces! I often see it when I'm coming out of work at 10pm when doing a backshift. On one hand I think it's a bit selfish, but on the other hand am tempted to do the same now I've got a decent car!

On a serious note, sorry to hear of everyone's recent pain of scratches and dings. Hope all gets sorted and looks as good as the repair on Watt's GTI

If I thought I could get away with straddling two spaces I would.  But I work for local council and the traffic wardens office overlooks the car park.  They'd be on it within nanoseconds!

So someone went in to my car whilst it was in a service station carpark. Obviously fled the scene. Two scratches and chunk of paint out of alloy, scuff round whole rear arch, scuff and scratch to quarter panel.

B@stards. That's terrible Snooze, scratches on face of the alloys might DA polish out but chips on black bits and wing look like they'll need paint - smart repair?    Little comfort but at least no dents.

Thanks booth. Out of interest what would u advise as to the best repair path for alloy and wings? Was just gonna pop to my local bodyshop. Cheers

It's hard to tell from the pics about the wing.  Is it scratched down to the primer or is any of that paint from the other car?  I'd take it to your local bodyshop and get their view and a quote, but also might also be worth getting a quote from smart repairer.   The alloy - some of the scratches to the face of the wheel might polish out but if not, then wheel refurb from someone who specialises in diamond cut wheels, and they will sort the chips in the black too.  Any scratches that don't catch on your nail when you run fingertip over them might possibly polish out.

I changed my number plates......again!
The original ones I bought were the pressed metal, German style type as recommended by a mate who's a big T5 camper van man. He reckons a German car should have this style plate.
He'll be getting an ear warmer from me next time I see him!
As nice as the metal ones are, they don't suit the car. The mixture of old look plate and new style car just doesn't work imo.

I think it would just bring unwanted attention straddling 2 spaces and you'd get some muppet squeeze his way in just to prove a point.

I park in the middle of two spaces all the time in supermarket car parks and have done for years. I couldn't care less what any one else thinks either as it's usually the complainers who are the ones that open a door onto the car next to them. Works a bit different though but I do have a favourite space and about three back up spaces

You're asking for trouble doing that. Sooner or later you'll get some Social Justice Warrior who'll take grave exception to it and take matters into his own hands. Personally I also think it stinks of arrogance too.

I just seek out a space that I'd consider reasonably safe and/or avoid certain carparks altogether.
