Picked it up!

After an 8 month wait, picked up my new R this morning.  Efficient, no frills handover at JCB Medway, suited me fine.

Formalities over, started it up and off we went.  Only driven 50 miles so far, but, it's THE BEST first 50 miles in any car I've ever had.  Awesome and exhilarating!!!  It's on another level compared to my Mk6 GTI.  8 months wait melted away with every mile.  Oh, and shod with Conti 5P's!  The R and I are going to have fun.....and then some!

Here's  few pics, after I gave it a quick wash.  I'd asked JCB not to wash or prep it and they duly complied.  In fact it was filthy, lol.  Needs a proper detail but all in good time.

Wow Rebecca, I didn't realise your car had finally landed - I'd stopped following all the "Build progress" threads a while ago

It looks stunning, you must be delighted/relieved! Congrats!

Fantastic glad you are happy with it, I remember talking to you just after I had purchased mine. Did you tried in the old mk6 Ed35?

Thanks ajmoir.  It's only day 1, but love it!!!

My Mk6 wasn't an Ed35, just a bog standard GTI with Glendales.  No I didn't trade it.  I sold it earlier this month to Norman (Nor), a member on this forum.  It is now having a lovely life in Glasgow.  In fact there's a recent thread in the Mk6 section showing it amidst some stunning north Scottish scenery, wearing a nice new set of Monza Shadow's which used to belong to another forum member, Asker (am1w).  It's a small world!

Norman is enjoying his new Mk6 GTI and I'm enjoying my new Mk7 R.  Happy days all round.

Ah yes I forgot it wasn't an Ed35, the R will seem much faster than the standard GTI. Its good to see your old cars go to new loving homes too. I keep an eye out for my old GTD, but never see it anywhere.
