Said goodbye to the GTI today, picked up an S1 in Vegas yellow, I'll try n post a few pics later.
The GTI was my favourite car to date by some stretch, just fancied something different and 4wd.
Initial thoughts on the 150 mile return journey, the S1 feels quicker, sounds a lot better, seats aren't as comfortable / supportive but it is finished better inside as expected. It's got most of the big ticket options - leather, bose, 18's, nav, keyless, comfort pack, so is a bit better equipped than my vanilla GTI pp. Can't comment on handling yer as it was all boring A roads on the way back but in dynamic mode the car rides a lot stiffer than my non DCC GTI.
Current - Mk7 Golf GTI w/performance pack
Previous - VW Golf Mk6 GTD, Ford Fiesta ST, BMW M135i, VW Golf MK5 GTI

Keep us informed with how you go - wouldn't mind doing this myself, if the gearstick skirt doesn't end up too baggy.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

This won't move the gearstick down or anything - just shortens the throw front to back.

Won't change how baggy the skirt is in the slightest. If you want to see how it sits, just put it in any gear and pull it back towards neutral by 20ish percent and that's how it'll sit.

Gnasher: Ah, I thought the stick might end up a bit shorter too, the stick sits quite tall in modern VWs.
