Title: A lot more spam lately...
Post by: Jack3559 on 04 March 2011, 18:00
Well dealt with though.

Is there a kapcha code needed to register?

Maybe you should need to enter one each time you post for the first 5 times.

Yes there is.

Spamming crew can get past stuff, I don't think there is much more to do right now other than tidy after the event.

On my forum we added a mod called 'peoplesign CAPTCHA Plugin' and since installing it we have had minimal spammers, it completely stops bots and the few spammers that have registered have never activated their accounts, much more effective than a traditional captcha.

using custom profile fields as an anti spam measure is also quite effective.

Just a small suggestion that might help, I used to hate cleaning the spam up on my forum!
