A quick go at star trails. I need a bit of practice and ideally a faster lens.

What settings did you use for that? I'd say it worked pretty well.

You don't really need a fast lens for long exposure, because you don't want a shallow depth of field. Stars are thousands of miles away, using f1.8 would give you only a very shallow (few Centimetres) depth of field, so your stars would be out of focus.

Yeah, but it's late at night and my brain is just only just functioning.

It's 290 stacked 30 second exposures with a 2 second interval between exposures.

18mm
f 3.5
ISO 320

I'll have another go tomorrow night with a higher ISO, a shorter exposure and a sturdier subject... weather permitting.
