Title: tyre swap
Post by: Dan_GTi8v on 03 March 2012, 19:00
how much roughly would a tyre place charge to change tyres over from my current alloys which are on the car now to a new set with old tyres on them, then stick the tyres from the new set onto my current alloys?

I've got a trusty tyre fitter at a scrap yard who has done this for me once or twice and charged around £5 per wheel which included balancing.

not bad I was expecting something like tenner a corner. Might be worth me ringing them then, just after an idea to see if it was worth the hassle or not. cheers :)

Most places are around £10 to £12 a wheel now

Mine was recent, however I did say it wasn't from your usual tyre fitting place.  See if you can find somewhere less mainstream as it can be cheaper.

Near me it ranges from a wheel destroying £5 per corner to a much more trustworthy £12 per corner.

Or a mate that works for VW who will do it for free using their equipment
