interior is pretty good apart from the usual scuffs on the driver's seat. i am keeping a keen eye on ebay for a replacement but my mate has recommended a local trimmer who should be able to repair it.

whatever i do i am trying to keep it pretty stock. the only deviation from standard would be if an affordable good leather interior turns up (best not hold my breath!)

There was a half leather mk3 one kicking around recently that would go on modified runners. Think it was on pistonheads or here

I insured the old girl for the weekend today. Just shy of 40 quid for 3 days cover. Felt great being behind the wheel of a gti once more.

Drove it to another body man who seemed a little more willing to do the work and that has reflected in the price as well. Everything bar the roof for 450 which includes some dent removal.

Unfortunately the car isn't quite legal and i panicked myself every time i saw a copper so i need to get the  front indicators and headlights working if i'm going to drive it to skeg tomorrow evening.

Tracking is way way off too.

On a positive note the small amount of welding it needs is getting done on monday and the wheels didn't rub at all.

well tracking cant be done as there is no more adjustment left apparently. need new rack ends.

welding has been done though and a lovely job he has made of it too.

just patiently waiting for paint now...

thanks. struggling to find decent bumpers at the minute. bought 2 sets so far and none have turned up

took the car to the bodyshop last night. gone from being really excited to now being really nervous. the quote is a low one but i have seen the guys work and it looks good to me. he repaired my mates range rover and rs4 and you wouldnt tell.

had a minor disaster the day before it went down. decided to have a dig around the front wing only to discover it was ram full of filler. fortunately i had a spare to hand so swapped them over.

managed to locate a decent front bumper but stuck for a rear so will run the original one till one turns up. it is ok, just a little bent...

i am doing everything i can to get it tonight.

luckily though i am at work tomorrow. i guess it would be worse if the car was on my drive and i was at work!

just desperate to see how good or bad it looks
