Title: re-surfacing alloy wheels
Post by: -(GIT)- on 16 September 2004, 15:32
Does anyone know if it is possible to re-surface the gti alloys?
If so what sort of cost are you into, and who does it. Am in the north west.

Cheers,

Ask about at the body shops around your area and see if they do refurbs on alloys. The price will be anything from ?30 - ?50 a wheel I would imagine. Thinking of having mine done in the near future too.

Thanks guys,
Excuse the ignorance here.... but are we talking about spraying the wheels silver and then clear top coating them to create an alloy finish??

I was under the impression that to do this job..... the wheels would need to be re-dipped in a magnesium material to re-create a new alloy finish?

If its just a case of actually painting them, then please let me know the process and best materials to use for this,... I will be keen to have a crack at it!

Thanks alot,
