Storm Grey mk3 project
« on: 30 March 2011, 23:15 »
I bought this GTI not to long ago and have got an MOT on it now. It lacks tax and insurance though so is sitting on a sorn behind a tree until July when I start my new job :(

The grey shades look different which I am a bit annoyed about!

In the mean time I have been collecting parts I have spotted cheap to spruce it up a bit. The list is as follows:

- full sound system of 6 good speakers, 2 subs, headunit and 2 amps (a 4 channel and a 2 channel) I know nothing about using amps to power speakers/subs at the present so will certainly have a few questions about wiring it up!

- clear hella rear lights

- angel eyes/mk4 type headlights

- vr6 splitter

- full black leather interior with rear head rests

- headlight protectors

- front grill with fogs

The plan is to fully service the car once I have driven it for a few weeks to check its general mechanical well being and then generally do things bit by bit to try and get it near mechanically perfect.

I noticed on the way to the mot gear changing is quite stiff, could this be the linkage as it has been sat for a year? and the clutch might be nearing the end of its life. I will put fresh gearbox oil in as soon as I have tested all the gears out properly on a long drive.

Cheers

Adrian

Pretty minor update, got round to the car the other day, pumped the tyres up and gave it a quick clean. Here's a slightly better picture. I want shadys old wheels!
3 weeks or so now till exams over and I can get insured and stuck in with this car. I can't wait!

Also this may be storm grey, fook knows, it looks metallic when your with it. The sticker is missing from the boot and I haven't got round to asking VW

My old valver was grey with different shades, I feel your pain.

Turned out my car had been hit from the front at some point (no record of it though).
