I don't know that if this is of any use. but , the price for a GTI 5 spd trans from the mk 2 16v or any of them for that matter are expensive over here. Or one can be sent out for a exchange w/ a heft $1,300-1,700
. And they are rare or geting rare to find here in the states. i found a guy who's been in the vdub thing for about 40 yrs
. his starting price is around $ 550.00 then upward depending on the repairs needed 30.000 mile waranty.Who's got a couple of air cooled drag dubs that go close to the 10.20s in the 1/4 mle. about 380 bhp. n/a e.t 138mph cross the mph line (Smokin,or hard run) They sound like a bike on stareroids. as far as my box goes 5th is still good but 3rd is another story. More than likly part of the case is needing to be broken to clear the internals
