yeh gti 8v cam advance the timing slightly and get a 16v exhaust manifold as the ports are slightly bigger iirc, and with your stainless system you should feel a noticable difference especially higher up the rev range

Is yours the SPI  or MPI AEE Engine?

You can mark your dizzy in its origonal possition, then advance it a bit,  using Higher octaine fuel...  you should notice it picks up quite a bit better, but to far and you will cause damage through Det, and to far back it will run like crap and back fire.

If you get it rite, it will be great, and be sure to remeber the origonal possiton for when you go back to normal fuel.
10 golfs and counting!

16v exhaust manifold wont fit, an 8v GTI one will so buy one of those instead ;)  If its a 1.8 driver all you need is the manifold, downpipe and backbox, the other pipes under the car are the same as GTI ones.  If you have a 1.6 get the entire 1.8 GTI system :)
