tripping rev counter/ trip computer

Hi there,

just got my first mk2 golf Gti and she is sweet, the only problem is that the rev counter work when it wants too, when it does my temp light comes on and the trip computer works!!! When it doesn't  the light goes off and the trip computer doesn't work... any ideas

check the plugs havnt come loose or have a bad connection from the terminals on the back of the clock unit.

sorry to be pain but how do I get to the clock

if you remove the dash under tray on the driver side, you'll just be able to see the plug(s) to the dash clocks
