truble starting

i have truble starting my car in the cold its a mk2 driver can any one help plz it runs ok when ive driven it .
and after leaving it for most of the day it starts fine .

this car has no return fuel line on it either if this helps anyone with the problem???

rub its my old car, it has a webber carb on it, also a 1.8 head gti cam and exhaust system
it cranks over but its as if its not getting fuel or a spark then all of a sudden it fires and the revs rise real slow, oh its also got manual choke too

does it have the fuel reservoir on the front of the engine?  I'm guessing not as there is no fuel return?

no rub, im thinkin maybe we should put on on it, am i right in thinking fuel reains in there when u switch the car off??
as it stands he has two in line fuel filters and thats it??

its there to seperate fuel vapor I think, so would prob run better with it on there :)
Sure it isn't safe without a return line as well!

mine was done by a mechanic who said he always did it on golfs??
its weird this car it turns over wont start then fires up out of the blue

Hmm I'm not sure why you would need to, except perhaps it might up the fuel pressure slightly.  I guess it could 'cure' a worn fuel pump...

fue; pump is run off the crank?? plus ive replaced that one too
