tuned tdi remap
« on: 01 January 2012, 22:44 »
how can i tell if the remap i have is any good? iv got a tdi 150pd with hybrid turbo 2 1/2" intercooler pipe, miltec exhaust, n other bits but im only getting 210bhp max,
is there anyone close to wolverhampton i can take it to get it checked? . dont want to pay for a good remap if i aint going to get any gain from it.
iv had the car for 6 years and all the work done was within the first 2 years of having the car but when i got it remaped last he done my dads leon aswell and his car didnt seem any quicker.. so just thinking was mine done right?
this is my last rolling road.

thats why i put max .
i used another rolling road last year with another place that shown 210bhp i do have prof somewhere but cant find it.
rollers can be out a bit so was lookin at the plus side to make me fell better lol. the torque figers look quite low for somethin pushin over 200bhp tho :(
its never bothered me b4 cuz i have always been quicker than any car upto 280bhp petrol but my dad has the new 2.0 tdi fr and wants his remaped n worryed it will be quicker lol.
so if some one can check mine and remap my dads then ill be finaly happy

What hybrid you got ??
You need bigger injectors as the pd ones will be maxxed nearly and wont last long running a lot higher boost.. plus new injectors are like £800..
Have you removed EGR ??
What map has it got ?? Custom will give you better feel and probably more bhp..
What boost you running ??
Mk4 Golf GTI anniversary and mk6 golf tdi :)

Or just take it to r-tech in hinkley only hour away. There asian lad up here who got 150tdi with all mods and bigger turbo and thats making 235bhpish and thats quick. he's got mk5 r32 and he says leave that for dead, But torqe wise thought be looking 350lbft ish and above. Get  a custom map done give r-tech a ring they know there stuff, thats where taking mine in feb once finished.

forgot what hybrid turbo it is but i got in touch with the ppl that made it and they sed its good for atleast 240bhp. i did look into injectors but didnt want to fork out any more money if a remap would give me atleast 10 or 20bhp more.
dont want to spend much more on the mk4 as iv got a mk1 cabby that im putting a 1.8 turbo engine in.
yes the egr has been removed so has alot of other stuff so car is quite light lol, the last remap was a costom one by some chap in cannock, not had a boost guage on the car in ages but last time i looked i think it was boostin 28psi ill have to hook it back up and check.

iv emailed r-tech to see if they can do my dads n have a look at mine,

28psi seems like a lot of boost :undecided:

The consensus on the tdi forum seems to be that 24psi is good for 200bhp.

Speak to Craig or Nick at Carbon Chip Tuning, diseasels are their speciality

Turbo might be good for 240bhp but the rest of the kit isn't.........

As has already been said, the injectors are the limiting factor
