1.6 8v driver

hi all, picking up my driver on friday and im just wondering if anyone has any ideas for performance mods as i think its currently running 75hp or so....ideally would like to get it to 100hp....or turbo job, or perhaps an engine change if needs be

A weber carb and a gti camshaft would be a good start.

get to pick up the 1.6 8v driver on friday, really well looked after, gti body kit, bbs splits, lowered 60/40...very excited but looking for performance mods, if all else fails.....bigger engine

Welcome... If it's carbed which I'm assuming it is, You'd probably be better off saving your cash a dropping a better motor in, saying that though, if it looks like a GTI but you want more performance, might be easier to just by a GTI?

yeah its got a weber twin air carb as far as im aware.....£2.5k for the A3 1.8 20v T engine dropping in ;) nom nom

I've got a gti lump and gearbox complete for sale if ur interested also got a power flow exhaust to fit on yours which eliminates the cat if you want it depending on which route u take I presume it's a mk3 ?

its a mk2, unfortunately dont know enough about swapping engines to do anything myself haha

Not a lot you can do really, 2.0 bottom end would be a good move. :smiley:
