Volkswizard vs Carwow drag race featuring Merc A45

https://youtu.be/Lg3TNEW94Fc

Andrew does get a mention, although his face isn't shown. Maybe he's not kool inuff for da Carwow kidz

I suggest that Matt needs to go back to school to learn how to count. He says in the video that the Merc costs £57k and the Golf £39k and, later on, that this amounts to a difference of £8k. Hmmm!

I don't believe there has ever been a more stark example of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

The Mk 7.5 GTI PP 245 DSG 5dr I drive is a 9/10 car in almost ever single descernable area.

VW then went and - genuinely and unequivocally - improved the chassis/handing balance of the new car - superb.  But at the same time, in just about every single other area they have dropped the new car down from a 9/10 car to a 3 or 4 out of 10 car at best.

A travesty really.

3 or 4 out of 10?

I know lots of people don't get on with the new infotainment, and there are some fairly unforgivable faults with it. But I'd hardly say that counts as 'every single other area.'

I'd score the mk8 eight out of ten. It's ten before knocking two points off for annoyances.

My brother’s Gti has finally arrived. He tells me that everything about the infotainment appears to be over thought. Not great at all but the drive of the car more than makes up for it. This surprised me as he’s a real tech person and not a car person at all.

And that is the reassuring thing. Imagine if the tech was absolutely faultless but the drive dreadful? Hmmmm.

I think what he said about the R is probably equally true about the gti and the clubby.... They drive really well but the infotainment and steering wheel buttons are definitely not great. I'd probably say the driving experience overcomes those issues but why does it have to overcome them? Imagine what it could have been, that's the super annoying thing more than anything specific.
JA i believe did say he was getting a clubby next in his R review. Will be interesting comparison.
