The Station Commander at RAF Northolt was killed on his bike last year. Left quite a shockwave behind. Always sad news especially when it's someone you knew personally. He left behind two young daughters and wife who have been robbed for the rest of their lives.

I've only been cycling to work and back for 3 weeks now and its only a 15 minute ride. I have lights, a fluorescent vest, and a helmet to ensure my safety, and ensure road users are aware of me. There's not much more I can do to make myself visible. Yet some of the f**king idiot drivers around is absolutely unreal!  Trying to overtake me when there are cars on the other side of the road, almost forcing me against the curb, and a woman even trying to get past with a double crossing literally feet away, so barely enough room for her to squeeze her own stupid f**king Honda CRV let alone me as well! It really isn't all cyclist fault injuries/deaths happen alot of the time, although obviously there are some absolute tools that think they are above the rules of the road when they are on a push bike. I think its a bit of both worlds though, and some re-education needs to be done, even if its a 30 second tv ad to make some of the older people aware of changing road conditions/users since they passed their tests.

I think no matter what a cyclist does, there's gonna be dick head drivers that will have a go, whether the cyclist is going too fast, too slow, too close to the curb so they have to keep swerving potholes and drains or central in the road so cars coming out of junctions can see them.

Plus there's the whole "road tax"  thing (actually vehicle excise duty) the really stupid drivers use as a last resort.

and . . . . .

there are also some wayne kerr cyclists out there.

I travel on unlit roads for 95% of my journey and have encountered a few cyclists, at night, dark clothing, no rear light, one nearly caused an accident cos the car swerved to miss him at the last minute and nearly had a head on.

and dont get me started on fooking motorcyclists  :lipsrsealed:

Yeah, without a doubt, but again it a few ruining it for a lot!
I wouldn't dare go out in the dark, or in poor visibility without a skid lid / flashing lights / hi-vis etc.

I ride a motorcycle and I can indentify that a lot of motorcylists are the worst that's on the road with the cutting you up at your last moment to brake manouvers.
