Tell them to check the DVLA database... who list engine as 1984cc.....

sadly they stuck "gti" on any mk4 as long as you paid 5p for badge

so the insurance company rang me today to tell me that I had said "yes" to the car being a 1.8T when I first ensured it on Friday (although I did say it was a 2.0) and are willing to change it for me- after all this they have told me that they will put it through as the closest car they have on the system (which is a golf gti 2.0..which was what I told them to begin with that "didn't exsist") but the insurance is more expensive than on the 1.8T even though its less powerful. I questioned it and they couldn't tell me why! time to look for a new insurer I think!!

Power does equate to higher premiums. Its about risk. For me, my 100bhp mk2 golf is just as expensive to insure as a 300bhp coupe.
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

The 1.8 20v N/A was also badged as a GTI, a bit more well deserved too

I can say without question that engine is NOT a 1.8T, apart from the 2.0 badge giving it away it's also missing 12 valves and a blower
