Looking at a fastening mechanism for the golf to strap the bumper in place by the wings on both side, won't go into detail why but I am looking at using a fastening system to keep the bumper in place. But I don't want something huge that sticks out, been looking at quick release pins, but how do they work and is anything needed on the other side?
Any other advice is appreaciated

Try these
I use them on the formula fords i run, there quick, cheap and work well but you may have to make up some brackets to get them to fit.

Got a link to them, as i would like bonnet pins being the easiest method to install, but I've not seen any flush ones.

I think Dzus fasteners would be a bit on the small side for a Mk4 bumper, Mk3 Items are heavy enough and Dzus's dont really clamp very well.
Try searching for aerocatches, very similar concept to bonnet pins but look fancier and sit flush to the mounting face. You can also get them with locks, which might come in handy.......
I did a google and came up with this as an example http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?325511-Bomber-s-Reliable-Savage-Supercharged-Snorting-very *friendly* person-of-a-Ph1&p=7446390&viewfull=1#post7446390 (replace the very *friendly* person bit with S L U T) and http://www.aerocatch.com/?gclid=CP-m5MzCjK4CFUYRfAodYHA6cw for the manufacturers website.
