and also if i got the engine out of a golf with the same code would i need the ecu or would mine work with it?

think you'd still need it coded - not entirely sure

as for an A3 - you would need clocks, ecu etc i think  :undecided:

as in the immobiliser part needs to be coded etc which could mean you'll need the keys too but i'm not 100%
