Hey there guys. Im one of them MK5 Guys that has ventured out...
From the GTI I have I know most of the things that set the GTI apart from the stock Golf. However you guys will know for sure.
So my request is simple.
What sets the MK1 Golf apart from a standard MK1 Golf? Pics would be nice too.
Thanks guys

the gti apart from being faster also had alloys, differnet seat covers, spoiler on front and swallow tail boot lid (on the early models), smaller rear lights and some had stripes on the side which have mostly gone nowadays. many things changed between 1975 and the run out campaign models in 1984 but i think this is the main points
excellent pictures and articles on this site. have a look under variants for exact gti detailing

Smaller rear lights was a year thing, not a GTI thing. Plus alloys wern't std fitment afaik! Differences:
red trim grille
gti badges
engine
fuel injection
fuel pumps
fuel tank
sporty seats
black headliner
better suspension
anti roll bars
