According to the TPI VW are moving to a Software package update where before one control unit would be updated at a time whereas now multiple control units can get updated in one go making the process a lot faster and easier.

Not to mention that they can align the controllers with a known compatible version... so the system as a whole should work.

I use vwmotorparts.com a vw dealership in Lancaster for genuine service parts. Had good service from them. Cheaper for me than driving 30 miles to my nearest vw dealership for parts. Also found LLparts good for genuine parts but have to wait a while for delivery.

Golf mk8 / Re: What are you paying for your clubsport?

I went to a VW dealer who had Clubbys in stock back in May.  I took delivery in June leasing my (zero options) car for 3 years @12k miles pa and paid £13,650 up front and now £50 x 35 months.  That's £15,400 all in or the equivalent of £436 per month.   As usual, I made the wrong choice and should have taken a PCP rather than a straight lease.

At the time I was thought I'd be bored of it in 3 years and want a change, or I might want a higher spec Clubby.

Right now I love it and a higher spec will cost a lot more in 30 months because there is zero stock.

A small crumb of positive news today with VWG CEO Herbert Diess announcing that he feels the worst of the supply chain issues are behind VW and that production volumes will begin increasing soon.

I’ll believe it when I see it

Let’s hope so!

In real life they look really damned cool... the photos don't do them justice.

I particularly love the blue:

Yes we went for the blue, I like the grey but my CS will be dolphin and the Honda grey is nicer and would have annoyed the help out of me!

Range is pretty awful, especially in the cold weather with the climate on, standard equipment is amazing though.

Defn not a CS replacement but handles well and great fun / quick for a small non performance car.

Does the 245GTI idle at 1000 revs when warm?

About the 1810 update for 16xx infotainment units. It was released on friday morning and then removed because of an issue (dont know the reason). But one guy from Germany got his car updated and ran a few tests.. So now Android auto wireless is working and now he can view the VW map on the Aid display. Also the reverse camera seems more reactive.
We will have to wait for the updated TPI before we can get the update done at VW workshop.

Ordered some VBT front discs from Awesome GTI on Black Friday which have just turned up, 312mm as non performance. Any ideas where I can order oem pads?

Not even my car, it’s my other half’s and she not fussed but coming in lot cheaper than oem discs and pads, not seeing any point upgrading the pads either as only road use!

If you can try your local TPS or try your local dealer they might actually help you out, failing that ebay?

A handful of my local dealers are all Arnold Clark and I won’t give them the price of a wiper blade so usually travel from West coast through to dealer in Edinburgh for servicing, suppose could ask them if they would post or TPS as suggested.

Cheers

I got a set of alloys from Barnetts of St Andrews, Ross Forgan (parts manager) is on the forum here periodically as well so I'd give them a shout.

If you look right at the very bottom of the Home page, under the Mk8 thread icon, there is a tiny little link to Child Gallery and in there is one....here is the link.

I've ordered the same car colour combo and canny wait to get into it...

Golf mk2 / Re: Steering wheel options.

Shame you want OEM as I have a lovely Momo Corse and matching Momo boss kit (complete with the 2 different types of horn pushes) I used to have in my old Mk 2 GTI I have been thinking of selling.

Actual steering wheel and boss.

Pic of it fitted to my old MK2 GTI, lovely feeling steering wheel if i do say so myself.
