Title: Brakes On a gti

can someone confirm what size discs I need for the front and back brakes on the a Gti?

I know the fronts are 312mm but what are the rears?

Was looking at black diamond or ebc...what's people's thoughts on aftermarket discs?

The rear discs are 286mm I believe. Alot of the after market discs are pretty decent, just dont get drilled discs, they offer no really improvement on stopping power with it been such a small disc and cause a lot of unnecessary brake dust.

Pretty sure they are 286mm mate, I bough them and fit them not so long ago.

You might be able to get 282mm, but might as get the 4mm extra

Either will fit, but the 286mm disc was for the mk5 gti, it was revised for late (2009) mk5 and for the mk6 to 282mm to stop reported intermittent squeaking and to stop the lip forming on the outside edge of the disc  :smiley:

Oh ok, didnt know that. I wonder why they did that. I like the lip, gives a good indication on how much wear they have had.

I’m looking at getting MTec discs front and rear but I need confirmation of rear disc size please.
My Golf is a 2012 mk6. I think I need 282mm ?

Yeah, looks like you need to check what caliper type you have and/or get your tape measure out.
