I know I conducted a poll a few years ago on the age of performance MK7 drivers, but as my car will be 4 years old in May, I just wondered how long people have owned their motors, and how long they plan to keep them for ?

I know a lot of members from a few years ago have either moved on to other brands or even MK8 Golfs, but for the stalwarts that are left, was wondering how many still have them and for how much longer they think they’ll keep them for ?

Just a bit of fun of course.

I’ll start with mine which is coming up to 4 years old. Have flirted with replacing it a few times, but to be honest it;s such a good, reliable well equipped car, so far at least, I’ve always just decided to keep the GTI

I'm onto my 2nd mk7.5, first one GTD I had 2 years, currently on GTI on month 11 with £4k spent on it in that time getting it up to my standard.

I am currently looking at a 1.9pd '04 Passat to replace it's daily duty, and promote it to summer car duty, I plan to keep it for another 2-3 years, until the prices of the TCR or M2 Competition come down.

Great car for everyday but I'm after something with a bit more road presence hence the TCR / M2 Comp.

Mines passed the 4 year mark recently.

No plans to change it at the moment, as long as it remains reliable.

Had my CS about 6 months and I plan on keeping it for a good while yet, I tend to keep my cars for a good number of years, i had my MK2 GTI about 15 years!!

I always wanted a CS when they first came out but could never afford one, so when I sold my A4 Avant for really good money in early 2021 I then started looking for a GTI PP for a while until CS #706 popped up on Autotrader with all the decent options so I reserved it and the rest is history.

Bought new in December 2018 and became a homeworker in early 2019 so my mileage is tiny (13170 as of today vs 18k a year when I travelled).
Love the car, absolutely no intention of moving on.

Bought my R in 2018 and still love it today as much as when I first got it. Hasn't missed a beat yet touch wood and I'm not keen on the MK8. I'll hang on to it for a few more years.

Bought mine in August 2020, plan to keep it until for as long as they sell petrol.

I had my last Mk5 from new for just over 14 years so I tend to keep mine.
