pot hole damage
« on: 16 May 2021, 21:20 »
this morning I had to take evasive action on a country road as the car approaching was in the middle of the road.
the nearside front wheel hit a pot hole as i braked and the car came to a stop, the other car just kept going, the front bush on the nearside control arm wish bone had sheared as had the anti roll bar link.
on top of this the drive shaft had separated from the outer cv joint.
luckily I'm in the AA and they were out within the hour, he managed to reinsert the drive shaft to get the car onto his towing frame.
talking to him about repairing it he said the cv joint would just need the boot securing and wishbones were pretty easy to replace, I have done them before in the distant past,
I've ordered the replacement wish bone and link for pick up tomorrow.
I have taken off the wish bone but in doing do the cv joint has separated again, can I just knock it back in or is it best to remove the drive shaft and do it on a bench?
I have ordered the m10 spine bit form amazon if I need to take off the drive shaft.

any help greatly appreciated, I'm meant to be off camping on wednesday.
