Golf Mk5 - TDI - Stopping Gap
« on: 26 June 2017, 17:14 »
Hello guys,

Those who have followed my other builds on here might know i had an A3 3.2 V6 Quattro last.

Here is a photo and a link to that build:

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=269447.0

Well, the A3 needed the timing chain doing. I wasn't prepared to spend another 1.5K on the engine and I was planning on stripping it in October. Anyhow, the timing chain decided to jump a tooth (or we think) whilst idling on my drive before work.

So, back in to parts it will go!

Anyhow, I am just in the middle of buying a house and only had a small amount of money saved to buy a replacement.

Picked up this MK5 1.9 TDi - 3 Owners - 105BHP of pure slowness - 570 miles to a full tank.

MODS:

Rotiform VCE - 18 X 8.5J - 215/35/18
Ebay Coilovers (by the looks of it)
Full GTI leather interior
Genuine R32 front and rear bumpers
Genuine GTi side skirts
Custom exhaust by HAWLEYS Sheffield. (IT'S OFF CENTER )
Cherry Red genuine rear lights.
XTRONS BT head unit / nav

The car history says it has been serviced this month. I am always OCD so I had it serviced again with the following at Riverside Racing, Liverpool:

Genuine Oil Filter
Genuine Fuel Filter
Genuine Spark Plugs
Genuine Oil
Genuine Pollen Filter
Pipercross Panel Filter

Had to swap out the aerial for a 2010 Polo one.
Did this on my MK4 and it just looks cleaner.
