Hi All,
Had my mk8 GTI 2 days, and trying to set up the voice control feature
But when I press the voice control button on the steering wheel it says "you need to buy that feature from the shop"
But when I open the shop there are only 4 items showing and non of those say voice control,
I have clicked the "we connect" thing and that's all working fine I can see my car in the app on my phone etc
Any ideas where I'm going wrong, please?

Yes, I did the whole "press unlock on both key fob" thing, and now I use a pin when I start the car to get into my user if that makes sense,
But keeps just saying the same thing when I press the button :nerd:

To be fiar I watched all of the reviews about this car and the only problem people seemed to have was with the intertainment system, but I have so far had no real issues with it so far as my car is almost definatly on newer software than the review vehicles they had,
The only small annoyances I have had so far:
1 - When chasing my friend around some nice country roads I've had the "your going to crash" error a couple of times when he was breaking aggressively in front of me
2 - Had the odd error on the screen but just clicked "try again" and seemed to work the second time
3 - The voice control not working

Well, I have found what the issue was, going to the desktop version of the weconnect app when I select "voice control" it shows me I can either have 1 month free or unlimited use for £250!!!!
F that! I will do without thank you very much :grin:

My understanding is it was standard up until relatively recently but now is a paid option.

Looking at the configurator, I think they have gone back to trying to distinguish "NavPro" over the basic system like in the Mk7.5...because previously NavPro gave you one thing - dual map dispay - literally nothing else (in the UK)
It says now that Pro gives you voice control and gesture control... suggesting the basic one lacks both.
Ash... do you have gesture control?

No pretty sure I don't, can't see it in the settings and nothing happens when I move my fingers around the display & buttons :huh:

Seem to remember there is a setting where you enable/disable it but its enabled by default.
The main place its used (or at least I use it) is with a side swipe just below the screen which is the equivalent of swiping the actual screen - eg to go from the media track list to the "now playing" screen.
Its a bit gimmicky if I am honest - much like the voice control!

Yea your right, that's why I'm not bothering with paying £250 for the voice commands!!! :evil:
Might add it if I find a OBD doo dah that enables it for free just to play with

At the moment you can't fiddle with the infotainment with tools.... its locked with something called SFD.

This paying to enable extras already installed is a little like paying for DLCs for features in games that should have already been included! :evil:

Technically its about reducing the RRP cost of the vehicle so it could get you under the dreaded 40k...
On lower models loads of things are not included that you can buy online...IQ lights, interior coloured lighting...
