Lighter wheels reduce the unsprung mass, this benefit is increased further when you take into account rotation

Realised that a lighter set of rims have truly transformed the R estate ride

Always been a fan of lightweight 18s on Golfs and ran than over 19 Prets but put a set of TSW Nurburgring's which are 9kg a corner and less than Pro Race 1.2s and what a difference

Have nicely taken the edge off things over a B road

Must be quite a machine now wigit.

You can see where they spent the money, whilst firmer than the R (even a lowered one) the damping is just in a different class so actually is better over speed humps. Where BMW scored is they have focused on it being a road car rather than lap times. It is also rather good in the wet which has surprised me

Fitted Helix plug and play sound system (p&p my backside, half the dash had to come out), mud flaps on front and back and my (t)rusty old Audi A3 8P winter alloys and tyres.

Helix is brilliant, not as good as DynAudio (you notice mids and treble aren't perfect) but finally the speaker don't die from low end rich songs.

Mud flaps work really well and keep door sill and rear window quite a bit cleaner, not cheap at just under 100£.

As for the wheels and tyres: http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/winterfelgen-fuer-den-golf-7-r-gti-gtd-t5012777.html?page=47#post48776259

Ahhh yes the Helix - AKA the VW dealer sold Plug and Play sound system.

I did ask about this at my dealer when I got my car, they said fitting was £150 quid to which i said "but surely its just a simple job" and they said "no".

So, no, not exactly P&P :)

I thought initially that like DynAudio you have a sub in the spare, but then I found out the P&P one means you have to loose the spare.

Ok, so its been a while since I've had a puncture, but I can guarantee the second I fitted that...

I'll wait. If I do get another Mk7 next year, I'll spec DynAudio for sure.

I'm not sure if I missed this, but have you posted any pics of these?
Cheers!
