Mk2 golf 1.3 performace camshaft
« on: 01 October 2010, 09:57 »
(Ok i've posted this in the wanted section as well but putting it on here just to get a few more views.)

Ok guys been speaking in depth to kent cams and the like regarding performance camshafts for the mini golfs. They no longer do them but used to supply/produce them untill demand dropped so they removed them from stock.
I'm trying to track down a performance camshaft for my mini Golf if anyone knows of or has one hanging around that they'd be willing to sell i'd really aprietiate it. I know its probably not worth doing and i've had several critics about tuning a 1.3 but its different and I fancy the challenge  smiley

ohhhhh shinnnnyyyy! Story of my life...

"mini golf" that's a new one on me.  As an owner of a 1.3 I have to say "what's the point" all you are Doing is wasting Money making a car go from "very slow" to "slow".

i used to have a 1.3, what you need is a twin choke weber carb. it will help increase MPG and be more reliable than pierburg.

i had this along with a full s/s exhaust and it sounded the nuts. very quick between the lights go kart style!!!
not too much you can do on the 1.3 but this is worth doing.

Wouldn't it be a cheaper to get an 8v GTI engine and lump that in??, and obviously the gains would be a hell of a lot more noticeable

I think Polo G40 camshafts are a decent and compatible upgrade for the golf mk2 1.3 engine.

To be honest, not worth trying to make it quicker.

Of course there is a point, im sure its great fun trying to get more power out of a 1.3 as long as your not piling too much into it.

It's a dumb f*cking idea.

Get a proper engine to start with.
