Hi all, I'm normally in the mk2 section but my son has a prob with his mk3 1.9tdi N reg (90bhp). This morning the plastic aux belt tensioner pulley disintegrated and took the belt with it. I'm picking up the new bits this pm but I'm guessing that the arm that the idler bolts to is spring loaded. Does anyone here know how you get the load off the spring arm to get the pulley back far enough to slip the belt under it? The arm shaft goes under the alternator and terminates in something with a plastic cover, I'm guessing the spring is in there, there's an allen bolt on the end but that just comes undone without moving the arm?
