Was very tempted by the R. However, the poorer discount and higher APR killed that thought. The M135i worked out £375 pm and the R £463 with equivalent level of specification. I'm a bit of a gadget man.... and found that the tech in the R behind the M135i. The Sat nav in particular seemed very low res in the golf.

Look back several hundred pages on this topic and I told you should have done this originally !

Several of you disagreed at the time.

At least that discount helps cover some of the depreciation though.

I've been in the dealers today with my Golf. Having walked around the showroom looking at the swirled and water marked cars in the showroom and listening in to the bollox that the salesmen were spouting when trying to sell cars to people with not much idea, I dread the thought of buying another car.

I like having a nice car, but I really don't find the whole purchasing experience enjoyable at all.

This.  Bypasses all the BS.  Or just make it clear to the dealer that your're not falling for it.

Of the last 2 gti's I bought new, one bought via a broker and was a painless, in fact enjoyable experience.  My current one was bought from a dealer and again painless, because as soon as he started his spiel, I told him not to waste his time and mine and from thereon all was good.
