Title: Parking Brake Recall
Post by: mk7gti on 17 January 2018, 13:46
I've just had a call from VW to say their is a recall on my 2016 Golf GTI's parking brake has anyone else had a call? The service representative was very keen to get me in ASAP.

My GTD was in for a service last Wednesday & they never mentioned anything about a software update, do they normally tell you about it or just do it without mentioning they’ve done it?

The recalls page didn't know my registration. So I entered my reg. here to get my vin -

"Good news! There are no Safety Recalls outstanding for your Volkswagen."

I had my recall carried out with a service after c3k miles in November 2016 at 2 months old, didn’t experience any issues and wasn’t aware of the recall before they applied it.

46G7 is a Service Campaign/Product Enhancement and not a recall as such e.g. you are not required to bring your car in specifically for the work to be carried out, it is only carried out as and when your car visits a retailer.

My Mk5 had its DM Flywheel and fuel pump changed under this system despite them telling me the fuel pump issue could cause a vehicle fire, can't see how that could be anything than a safety issue, suspect it to avoid having the bad publicity of issuing recalls.

I don't think my auto hold is working properly. Especially when compared to our A3. Maybe it works differently, or I'm not using it correctly.

I may contact the garage to see if this update is available for my car. Has anyone noticed a difference?

I might be being thick, but that model years does this affect as it doesn't say anywhere? I tried my reg number and it says no recall, but then as someone else mentioned that isn't necessary the case.

i've noticed if you come to a stop while breaking gently AH won't come on unless i push harder, i guess it's like this for rolling starts. just a shame it cuts out with the stop/start sometimes... :)
