How long will my car take to build ?[/b] - It depends on a lot of factors, but to give you some idea it takes around 30 hours to build a Golf, split over two to four days.

I take that 2 to 4 days to mean 30 hours continuous or close to it, over 2 days, with the potential of starting on a Friday and ending on a Monday (assuming they don't work weekends). With that in mind the latest any week 33ers should be built to completion is next Monday.

Can I be arsed to ring again today and hope to speak to someone who whos what they're talking about?

Ìf you call today MH I'll call tomorrow - I can't bear it today.  The chap yesterday told me the car could be started to be built anytime up to and including Sunday, as that's still BW33.

On contrast, I was told this by my dealer:-

"Having spoken to VW, it looks as though changing the spec of your car wouldn’t necessarily change the build date of your car unfortunately as the date is currently fixed even taking into account delays for the rear camera option."

Well someone is not getting an honest answer. My build week keeps getting delayed and I'm currently unconfirmed bw37 - not that seems to mean much to VW

I know how your feeling guys but if your confirmed bw33 (this week) then you can move into transit at any stage between now and Sunday. I would wait til Sunday and if it doesn't happen then contact them

the question is, is this for new orders, or does it also affect orders already placed with the camera that have confirmed build weeks !!!

I would assume that based on my experience, it's fair to say that if you ordered with a camera, and have a confirmed build week, you will be OK.

Correct. If you have a confirmed build week then you will get the spec of car you originally ordered. If any car comes and its not the correct spec then just dont accept it as its not whats been signed for on your order form. Ive got camera on mine and its confirmed for bw36.

I wonder how hard it will be to get replacement components should a warranty issue arise with the rear view camera.

still can't understand how far carsystems.pl are selling full retro fit camera kits for the mk7 for 350 quid. I know the parts are made in Poland but something's wrong when a major car manufacturer can't get bits yet a small independent company can.

Could it rather be that VW have discovered that they have significantly underpriced the camera believing that it wouldn't be massively popular. Maybe they are making a loss on each unit and that's the reason they have pulled the plug.

Watch this space, whey they reappear the price charged will probably have doubled

Emailed VWCS to ask why they didn't contact me Tuesday as promised.  Then got a call few minutes later from my dealer.  I'm confirmed BW37.  Because of all the delays VW have sucked the fun out of this and I don't feel excited at all .  I specifically asked and the camera IS being fitted.  Or at least the dealer says "it's still showing as on there" which is about as definite as anything they say.

Really sorry for you guys still waiting for a confirmation, especially Jimble and now Ricepop because of his bad news.  Rice if you cancel I can put you in touch with a BMW with huge discount!

I actually made my mind up to cancel on Monday when I'm back in the UK and take the M135i deal.  Now I don't know what to do... Doubt I can cancel and get my deposit back after going confirmed... or you think I can?  Dammit VW!  I won't be going VW again that is for sure.  My first and last GTI I reckon.

Oh yeah, and when I told my wife the "good" news she told me she actually wanted me to take the Beemer.  Ha...
