GolfTI, you say this a lot. Like, a lot. You seem to take it very personally when someone cancels. Why do you care what anyone else drives?
There are a lot of people who have their car already mocking those who cancel after much longer waits with no progress.
Not my intention to mock, just to emphasise that the car in your hands will mitigate the wait. Some have been luckier than others with their wait (waited 23 weeks after seeing my dad order almost a week after me in the same dealership and get his in 12 weeks). I myself seriously thought about cancelling more than once but know i'd have missed out by passing on the car I got. No other car i'd rather have at my pricepoint and performance vs mpg considerations. A short test drive just doesn't compare to how good the car is all round on a day to day basis.
Mocking is a strong word for it - just a bit of lighthearted banter from most, if not all here. Sometimes it's hard to interpret the tone of typed text on the internet. I prefer to take it easy and assume everyone is just having a bit of a joke with no malice intended.
What everyone can glean from this particular thread is that everyone who's collected a GTI/GTD has been delighted with it. Despite whatever wait they had, they're all happy they stuck it out and collected.
