Audi 2017 Q7 MMi Update

Can I ask for some advice/assitance.

I have been trying to update a Q7 without success.

Downloaded files, placed on a 64Gb SD however when navigating to the SD1 on the car it doesn't find update files.

Any pointers would be appreciated

I tried to update the maps on a 2017 Tiguan a month ago and found that the system wouldn't read the maps when they were put onto a new SD card.   

I therefore copied the old files from the original VW supplied SD card onto my computer (just in case!) and then copied the updated files over the top of them onto the original SD card.   

That has worked perfectly.     No idea why VW system wouldn't read from another SD card, but it works with the original card.

AFAIK, VW have some form of encryption on the car / card combo so will only read the VW cards!! Not heard of anyone that has come up with a work around

Have tried several workarounds. The problem is the card which has some digital bits coded at manufacture that I have not been able to reproduce on another card.

Don't remember seeing an SD inserted into the car but will check.
Looking at YouTube instructions an SD formatted to FAT, not NTFS, should work however should being the operative word here.

Maybe this is why Audi charge >£300.00 to apply the update.
