I dont believe it'll be much difference from the tin top equivelant. probably 0.5 sec at the most.

I checked my speedo against the GPS snooper system, and found it to be reading 17% fast!! That will account for the excessively high MPG reading on the MFA too then!

1.8 112Bhp GTI mk1 = 8.9secs to 60.

So the cab is prolly  9.5-10secs

cos its about 140kg heavier (check power-to-weight thread for its exact weight)

black gti - the original poster said he didnt own a gti. so how bout u have a guess at what vehicle he has before deciding on how fast it can go.  :)

this thread is pointless without knowing what cab he actually owns ::)

Hi all, new to the board.
Mine does it in about 9.5 secs, and that's a GTI.
But it's going to get better....

it definately goes in cos theres a couple of pics of a purple one on demonvw.co.uk, and theres a local vw specialist says he could do it no probs.

Golf on 20's,

If you go ahead with the 1.8 turbo into your ragtop make sure you keep us posted on progress. I considered doing it to mine, but have now moved the idea to the pipedreams section as there are too many other things in my life right now costing far too much money-including a driveway to park the old girl on!

Good luck if/when you go for it.

Michael (Only a little bit jealous!).

By the way, with regard to the 0-60 times, 15 secs feels fast with the roof down, especially on a cold day! I have know idea what my 1.6gli does it in.
