I have the beta but it took me hours to list all the options on the paid version! So far as I can tell it’s just variations of existing settings. The one I really want is to toggle Stop/Start so that it’s off by default but apparently VW doesn’t support this. You can only hack it to stop it ever kicking in, which I also don’t want as I do use it very occasionally.

Dv52 and others make a control board (yes I know it’s just a homemade one) that switches the stop start off at startup, wires in to the switch, I did think of a arduno to make it memory but never got round to fitting it

Carista is a great little device! I’ve been wanting to make a few changes to the car, but I’m all Apple, so getting OBD11 involved extra costs, and I’d just put it off. For £15.99 I’ve done all the changes I wanted - as long as I remember to cancel my subscription before 21st of February!

What I did today was:
1. Soundaktor volume down to zero. (Seems to make a big improvement to in car refinement.)
2. Show A/C blower speed when in AUTO.
3. Scandinavian DRL: daytime running lights also activate taillights. (Never saw the sense of just fronts!)
4. Lane-change turn signal auto-flasher count set from 3 to 5.
5. Puddle lights while driver-side mirror is folding.
6. Puddle lights while passenger-side mirror is folding.
7. Configured beep when locking/unlocking and enabled menu in car settings.
8. Headlight washer activation delay set to maximum 2.5 seconds and frequency to every screen wash.

The only problem I had was that to change the number of lane change flashes you need to reset the lights to factory settings. There is a note in the app about this, which I failed to follow for a few frustrating attempts. Once I did that the change to 5 happened. Altogether very satisfying and great value for money.

Is there a way to stop the DRL's dimming when the headlights are on?

I don’t recall that option being there, just sidelights operate DRLs, so they are not dimmed with sidelights on. Just checked mine, and the DRLs dim with headlights on. I seem to recall that VCDS will alter the %age of dimming. OBD11 may also have this option. Don’t see the need myself.

as far as I’m aware it depends on what headlights you have, the newer u headlights don’t support this

I have enabled the  alarm chirp beep bit  on locking and unlocking et cetera. In the vehicle settings on the infotainment section there is a bit that says “acoustic confirmation of central locking or similar” ? Is that the menu option that you can use on the infotainment system to turn it on or off or am I missing the on off menu option? Cheers

For those who are interested, I have noted down each available customisation option on the Mk 7.5 GTI.  I've only listed the top level menus and not all of the options/sub-menus as there are quite a lot, but you get the general idea.  Bare in mind, some of these options are already enabled by default for the GTI.  The app can configure lesser model Golfs which may not have these options on the dash display.

Carista have just launched a new ‘Low Power Mode’ for the battery if your car isn’t being used much. This basically just enables the manufacturers Transport Mode to conserve power. As soon as you start the engine, it reverts to normal power mode. You need the beta version to take advantage of this option.
